Coming soon
Full documentation is being worked on right now. In the meantime, here are a couple of important notes to keep in mind. These will help you get the most out of Clar.
- Clar is small! It only takes about 44MB on your disk, and uses very little memory. Your audio files, especially WAV masters and cover artwork, are large and not included in this calculation. Clar will copy your files into the project folder to be managed by the software. This can cause significant disk space usage, but prevents your original files from being lost. It is recommended that once you load your master files into your Clar project, you move the originals into cold storage.
- Clar regularly makes backups of your data. But it does not back up your audio files or artwork. It will ensure the database that houses your projects and contacts is backed up, and if for any reason your running version is corrupted, it will load the backed up version from your disk. You can configure how often backups are made in the Settings panel.
If you wish to backup your audio and artwork, Clar keeps it well organized! You can find the location of your Clar data folder in the Settings panel. Copy this entire folder to a safe location, and you can restore your data from this folder at any time. - You can customize Clar. You can change the look and feel of Clar to your liking from the Settings panel under the Appearance heading.
- Clar is not a DAW. It does not do any recording. It does not have any integrations. It does not do any audio processing itself, it uses software called FFmpeg to process audio files. Clar does not bundle the FFmpeg binaries with Clar. If you do not already have FFmpeg installed on your machine, you will be prompted to install it when you first launch Clar. You can change the installation location in the Settings panel at any time. Neither Clar nor Lleu Labs is affiliated with FFmpeg in any way.
* Available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Testing on Windows and Linux is limited. Use at your discretion.
